History and Culture (100 marks)

Answer in 150 words and 10marks each: 10 x 4 = 40

  3. Do you think Mahatma Gandhi’s support to Khilafat movement had diluted his secular credentials (धर्मनिरपेक्षता की साख)? Give your arguments based on the assessment of the events.
  4. Discuss briefly the factors that complicated the process of decolonization (उपनिवेशवाद का अंत) of the middle eastern countries.

  1. “The process of British imperial expansion in India was driven by the consanguinity (सगोत्रता) between revenue, commerce and military exigencies (अनिवार्यताए).” Discuss.

Geography (100 marks)

  3. How would the impact of global warming differ from one part of India to another? Give a reasoned account.

  1. Sub-Urbanisation (उपनगरीकरण) is a new trend of people moving away from congested urban areas to cleaner areas outside the city in search of a better quality of living. with one example each from Indian and the world, explain the prospects and challenges associated with this trend.
  2. “Asia has many places where people are few and few place where people are very many”. Explain the role of natural resources in this statement, with suitable examples from outside India.
  3. Differentiate between the terms- industrial complex (औधोगिक परिसर) and Industrial region (औधोगिक प्रदेश)? Why are the areas near industrial regions of the Western India are witnessing greater growth of industrial complexes than the areas near the industrial regions of the Eastern India?
  4. What is disaster vulnerability (आपत्ति असुरक्षितता)? Divide India into natural disaster vulnerability zones (आपत्ति संभावित क्षेत्र) based on the occurrence of drought and suggest mitigation (अल्पीकरण) measures.
